Britney Spears was booked last night for her two driving-related misdemeanor charges. "At around 9:25 this evening, Ms. Spears turned herself in to the Van Nuys Jail for booking," an LAPD officer said on Monday night. "This was by court order, which is common for a misdemeanor charge." A smiling Spears, wearing a short black dress, a black jacket and carrying a white purse, was accompanied by pal Sam Lufti and her lawyer when she surrendered. The popstar was fingerprinted, photographed and released about an hour later. The 5'5" singer checked in at 125 lbs, with her hair and eyes noted as brown. The LAPD officer says she was neither handcuffed or detained in a holding cell, and described her demeanor as "cooperative." On October 9, Spears was ordered by an LA Superior Court commissioner to be booked. She will be arraigned on two charges - hit-and-run causing property damage and driving without a valid California driver's license - on October 25. The charges stem from a fender bender in a San Fernando Valley store parking lot on August 6, when Spears made a wide right turn into a parking space and scraped another car's bumper, then left without leaving a note.
In other Britney news, the Gimme More singer has admitted she wasn't ready for her now infamous "comeback" performance at the MTV Movie Awards. The day before the show, the popstar confided in music producer Dallas Austin. "She said, 'Hey, I do not think I am ready for my show tomorrow, and I want to go back to where my kids are,'" Austin revealed at an LA Fashion Week show last night. "She is very sane when she talks, believe it or not," Austin added. "She is normal and knows what is going on. [She's] basically a person who has made so many people happy [and] she is mad that she is not making them happy anymore." Austin advised her label to hold off on Spears's new album, which was pushed up two weeks for an October 30 release. "Everything is too much for her. She needs another four, five or six months. I think that like any mom, she needs time to get herself together."
