In 2000, Geoorge Clooney appeared in major Hollywood films like The Perfect Storm and O Brother, Where Art Thou?. For the later he even won a Golden Globe Award for Best Musical/Comedy Actor. The same year he also did Fail Safe as Col. Jack Grady. In 2001, he again teamed up with Soderbergh, but this time for Ocean's Eleven that was a remake of the 1960s Rat Pack film Ocean's Eleven. He also starred in Spy Kids as Devlin, the same year. In Ocean's Eleven he played the main lead Danny Ocean.

Ocean's Eleven is Clooney's most commercially successful film ever, earning approximately US$ 444,200,000 worldwide. The film has two sequels Ocean's Twelve in 2004 and Ocean's Thirteen in 2007 both starring George Clooney in the lead and as an executive producer. In 2001, George Clooney founded the production studio Section Eight with Steven Soderbergh. He made his directorial debut in the 2002 with the film Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which is an adaptation of the autobiography of TV producer Chuck Barris. George Clooney's direction received an over whelming response from the critics and the audiences despite of the film failing.

In 2002 George Clooney also starred in Solaris as Chris Kelvin and Welcome to Collinwood as Jerzy. He was also the producer of Solaris. The same year he also appeared in a documnetary Starbuck Holger Meins. In 2003 he did Intolerable Cruelty as Miles Massey and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over a sequel of Spy Kids(2001), as Devlin. He also Produced Insomnia as an Executive Producer in 2002.

In 2005, George Clooney appeared in Syriana as Bob Barnes. In 2005 itself Clooney directed, produced, and starred as Fred Friendly in the film Good Night, and Good Luck. Both of these films were highly accepted at the box office and during 2006 Academy Awards George Clooney received a nomination for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Good Night, and Good Luck, as well as Best Supporting Actor for Syriana. He became the first person in Oscar history to be nominated for directing one movie and acting in another in the same year. In 2006 He did The Good German as Jake Geismar.

In 2007, George Clooney produced and starred in Michael Clayton as Michael Clayton. The same year he also did Darfur Now as himself. In 2008 last year he directed, produced, co-wrote and starred in Leatherheads as Jimmy "Dodge" Connelly but the film is uncredited. He also starred in Burn After Reading as Harry Pfarrer last year. His upcoming films are Fantastic Mr. Fox in 2009, Up in the Air in 2009 based on the novel "Up in the Air" by Walter Kirn and Men Who Stare at Goats in 2010.
